John Terry will be able to play in our first Champions League group game after his Uefa ban was reduced on appeal.

The defender will miss our Super Cup match against Atletico Madrid on Friday, August 31, having also been suspended for the Champions League Final against Bayern Munich in May, following his red card against Barcelona in the semis a month before.

The third game of the ban has been deferred for a probationary period of three years.

The Uefa statement reads:

Chelsea FC's John Terry has had his three-match suspension reduced on appeal.

Although the central defender is still suspended for three UEFA club competition matches, the third game of the ban has now been deferred for a probationary period of three years. The UEFA Appeals Body decided to partially uphold Terry's appeal against the three-match suspension handed down to him by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body on 31 May.
