The Football Association has supported national team head coach Fabio Capello in his decision to select captain John Terry for the upcoming friendly internationals against Spain and Sweden.

Terry is currently under investigation following allegations that he made racist remarks to Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League clash between Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea at Loftus Road in October.

Both the FA and the British police are looking into the matter and there have been calls for Capello not to include the centre-back in his 25-man squad for matches against Spain on Saturday and Sweden next Tuesday.

However, the Italian named the 30-year-old in his squad on Sunday, and now the FA has publicly backed his decision.

"There was a lot of conjecture about this subject last week and some stories and certain media outlets suggested that there might have been some disagreement between Fabio and the FA (over the selection of Terry), " Club England managing director Adrian Bevington told Sky Sports News.

"I can confirm that there was nothing of that sort.

"We can't comment on specific issues, but what we can say is that these are allegations and therefore Fabio was perfectly entitled (to pick Terry) and we agree with this.

"There are allegations in place and nothing has been proved against anybody. So Fabio picked John Terry and we support that decision."
