Tearful John Terry poured out his heart to his mum – as he vowed to save his marriage.

The troubled Chelsea star, 29, told worried Sue Terry: “I’m all right, Ma. We’ll start again.”

The emotional meeting came after she watched him lead his team to a crucial 2-0 victory over Arsenal to take his side top of the Premiership.

It was his first match since being axed as England captain over his affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the ex-girlfriend of team-mate Wayne Bridge.

Terry is said to have sobbed as he hugged Sue, 51, and his brother Paul, 30, who plays for Rushden & Diamonds.

A Chelsea insider said: “There were a few tears with his mum when the family got together behind the scenes.

“But he told her not to worry and that he was going to be fine – and that he would battle his way through it.”

Terry has been frantically trying to contact his former best mate Bridge, but the Manchester City star has so far refused the olive branch.

A friend said: “Wayne goes from thinking that JT’s a total b*****d to letting bygones be bygones – and back again. He’s still trying to get his head round it all. JT was his best mate and that’s a hell of a betrayal to forgive.”

Yesterday it emerged Terry is heading out to Dubai after the Everton match tomorrow in a desperate bid to patch things up with wife Toni.

Chelsea have granted him compassionate leave for the 6,800-mile trip, which means he will almost certainly miss the FA cup tie against Cardiff City this Sunday.

His family, team-mates and manager have rallied round in an amazing show of support for the beleaguered defender.

And in his first interview since the scandal broke, Terry last night thanked “every single fan” for their backing.

Speaking to Chelsea TV, he added: “The way they have been with me for the last two weeks, honestly it’s incredible, I didn’t expect that.”

At the end of Sunday’s match an emotional Terry walked around the ground applauding fans who had given him a rapturous reception – and threw his shirt into the crowd.
